Favorite Books For Little Girls

Homeschooling

Here is a fun list of some of my favorite books for little girls. I would say these are ideal for the ages between 3 and 6, but of course depending on your children they may enjoy them for longer. Also, I don’t want you to think these are for girls only. My boys have both enjoyed these books along the way as well! They just have a special appeal for my little girls!

Brambly Hedge Complete Collection

This wonderful collection of sweet stories has been a favorite in our home for several years now! Each tale tells the simple adventures of the mice of Brambly Hedge. The joys of family, celebrations, seasons, and a well stocked pantry run through these stories. The illustrations are homey and detailed, drwing you right into the story. Despite being a gift for my daughter when she was 3, all of my children have enjoyed these.

Elsa Beskow Gift Sets

Both these sets of mini books are adorable! The stories in these books are sweet, simple and and a bit quirky. Our favorites are Pelle’s New Suit; a simple story about how Pelle works to get his new suit, starting with shearing his own lamb all the way to the finished suit. Another favorite is Emily and Daisy about a little girl who helps her mother by watching Daisy the cow and the unusual adventures she encounters. These stories do often contain elves and fairies, so whether your family enjoys these will depend on if you are ok with that.

Milly Molly Mandy

I bought this for my 5 year old daughter for Christmas! These are such simple old-fashioned stories. Each short chapter contains a little adventure revolving around, friendship, family, home, or community. Milly Molly Mandy often learns a simple lesson in each one. The illustrations are charming as well.

Flower Fairies

These darling little books are perfect for learning about flowers in each season. There is one for Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Each spread features a beautiful illustration of a flower and a matching flower fairy on one side and a lovely poem about the flower.

Miss Rumphius

We have enjoyed several books by Barbara Cooney over the years, including Roxaboxen, The Ox Cart Man, and this one. This is a sweet tale of a little girl who dreams of traveling the world and then having a house by the sea when she grows up. Her grandfather tells her there is one other thing she needs to do- do something to make the world more beautiful. For my little girl who loves beauty this story was inspiring to use that love to bless others.

Anonymouse

If you enjoy other books about mice and other small animals then you will enjoy this story of Parsnip the mouse who lives in a post office. One day he sees a lonely little girl at her P.O. Box and decides to write her a letter. The story unfolds into a sweet tale of bravery, friendship and the power of a simple letter.

Eloise Wilkin Stories

This is a sweet collection of some of simple old fashioned stories with the darling illustrations. Both of my little girls especially love the ones with babies.

I hope that you have enjoyed this list and have found a few books to add too your families reading life? Please tell me some of your favorite books for little girls in the comments below!

I think my girls would love these books, and I know I’m not little but I think I would love them too!

Education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life.

Well, I haven't posted in awhile. Every thing is f Well, I haven't posted in awhile. Every thing is fine, I just needed some space and time to evaluate my priorities and my purpose. With a new year have come questions in my mind about why I am in this space and whether or not it is truly beneficial for me, my family, or the ones reading my posts. Lately I have been feeling drawn to be more present with the family, friends, and community that are right before me. I have been less and less comfortable with sharing my children and our daily lives online. I am less and less comfortable with how I start to see moments as something instagramable. I am less and less comfortable with how I start to care too much about how many likes my post receives. I don't really know yet what this is going to look like for me. Maybe I will still post occasionally or maybe I will eventually delete my account. So we have been over here doing everyday things, seeking to find joy in the ordinary, and deepen relationships.

It was such a joy and a labor if love to create these little dolls to look like each of my girls.
